Prasoon Joshi feels that Rang De Basanti gave him an opportunity to understand the mindset of today’s youth. The lyrics of the tracks did not just strike a chord with the audience but also allowed the movie to move ahead with the story effortlessly. Johi remembers how the song ‘Luka Chupi’ was discussed with A R Rahman before being penned down. And as music and the legendary Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was added to the lyrics, even the man who wrote broke into tears. The song along with ‘Khalbali’ was also considered for Academy Award for Best Original Song nomination.
